The UK has some wonderful preserved heritage steam railways, there are lots of steam powered Beam Engines to visit as well as steam fairs and showman's' engines! Across the pond, our friends in the USA have some magnificent steam railways still providing a great show for the tourists.
Who can not feel amazed at the giant spark arrestors, cow catchers and the huge blazing light at the front, carving a path across the wild west!
We are working closely with some of the best steam heritage charities and organisations in the UK, Australia, the US and other areas. Please take time to see how you can help these organisations preserve steam power for future generations to admire and enjoy.
Preservation, Restoration, Heritage - Your Visit Helps Raise Funds!
Perhaps one of the most famous steam engines in the UK is the Flying Scotsman, a name that conjures up images of cold winter days, steam billowing as she thunders towards Scotland from London, magnificent in her green colours.
Saved by the nation in 2004 and a star icon of the National Collection in York, Flying Scotsman is currently being restored to make her fit to return to main line operations in 2011.
The Flying Scotsman is just one example of an iconic steam engine, being saved for the nation to enjoy. All around the world there are groups of dedicated people working, often in less than idea conditions, painstakingly restoring and preserving steam powered attractions. The idea behind this website is to show case as many of these attractions as we can.
